The SimLOOK projects is nearly over, today we release the 9th report, and in just 5 Sim days we will know how it all ends! As promised, you can now get your own copy of the SimLOOK house for living in, or a doll sized house for doing your own experiments.

Please see either the project's main page, or STUFF for getting the house. Right here and now we want to concentrate on the ongoing project, and what happened in the SimLOOK house during the past 5 days.

What might seem like some quiet five days, are quite interesting if you are into science and statistics. Less surprises means that our test Sims are stabile, and that we have learned to know them. We believe that the fact that the team is finding it's pattern, also helps more and more relations to grow. Even the lack of one bed seems to have been solved in the most splendid way!

After 45 days one should believe that any potential relations would have found their way of getting established. In each of us Sims' genetic information there are keys to what we like and what kind of Sims we prefer to relate to. After a series of interactions, you can say we are programmed to find our friends. Or is it that easy?

After we lost or records from the project, we had to build up again the key information that we need to see the long run tendencies. But something I remember without any written data for reference, is that any friendship has always been quite fragile, with some bad luck and timing, a few negative interactions are enough to spoil something you thought was a good relation. It's not a problem to lower a good contact by -25 points during a series of actions taking place during one day. Especially for Sims acting by their free will, with no expressed goals, and perhaps being a bit bored of their own situation. Here's a few examples:

Arthur and Agnes never had a god relation, but their ultimate score seems to be around zero. When we lost all our stored data on Day31, they had a negative -28/-26 relation. It has taken them almost 10 Sim days to recover this tie, but they are not able to build it much beyond zero.

Sonia and Rita is another zero related couple. They have been having a none existing relation through most of the project. On Day41 something damaged their zero relation, which became -18/-10. On Day45 they are still not back to zero.

Rita and Agnes had a zero relation for weeks, but on Day35 they became a very negative tie, -28/-29. 10 days later they are back to zero.

Finally there's Agnes and Rasputiz, always going zero, making us wonder if they have ever interacted at all. On Day43 they ruined this all, ending up with a -24/-25 relation. If they follow the same routine as usual, they will need at least 10 days to get back to zero, and with only 5 days left of the project, they will most likely be leaving the SimLOOK house with a negative tie.

What is rather typical with all these zero relations that are turned into something negative as of a sudden, is that they normally are repaired with the help of time, not by any positive interactions. As a norm, any relation is getting closer to zero by 2 units per day (TS), meaning a -20 elation will be back at zero after 10 days. This also means that the other relations in the house that are stabile, are actually worked on each day to avoid to be lowered.

It also seems that the zero relations are more often damaged than the established relations, at least established ties are not lowered as much as zeros, during just one day. In only 5 Sim days we will know who will have the best and the worst relation. Right now John and Sonia has the best, and Agnes and rasputiz the worst, but a lot can happen during 5 days!

They have been rather lucky with the technical sides lately. The hot tub, which is probably the item which is most important in order to keep their mood up, has broken down only once during the project, and that's already long time ago. Some showers and sinks have been broken, but they still works, they only spill more water than usual. On Day45 the espresso machine broke down for the first time, but that couldn't have taken place on a better moment, as the repairman was already ordered and on his way.

Another problem which had bigger affect on the project, is the missing bed. The double bed has been repossessed and reinstated several times, and now it might be next in queue to be reinstated. But as it is a rather expensive item, it will be repossessed shortly after. All in all, this means they have only 6 beds for 7 test Sims. This has been a problem to the Sim going last to bed, normally that has been Agnes and Rasputiz. They have been taken a nap on the sofa in the dining room, but there is the tv which often is on, and there is also a coo coo clock on the wall, making noises every 6th hour. To sum this up; the dining room is not the perfect choice if you need to sleep. This seems to have been solved now, by Rasputiz adjusting his sleeping rhythm completely. He now goes to bed after 6 AM, and by that time at least one bed is available.

When seeing the journals, it's obvious that a normal Sim sleeping rhythm is from 10 PM to 6 AM, and you will see that most of the test Sims have a very steady rhythm.

In the last report I stated that the project's economy might be a problem, as there was only §16.000 left on the account. This now seems to be enough for the remaining project, as one of this period's reinstated items was the office trash can which doesn't cost much. On the project's account there is still §13.551.

On Day41 we wonderd if something was wrong with the refrigerator, because most of the team was hungry, yet nobody served any meal, they only ate snacks. At 3:50PM Quentin served the first meal, and they flocked to it.

D40 they got the diligence notice, and on Day41 the repossesing of the Brahma 2000 computer took place. Virtual Reality set was reinstated, as it got 38 votes from you Sims out there. D43 they got the diligence notice again, and on Day44 the the Virtual Reality set was repossessed. The long time ago repossessed Office Trash Can was reinstated (36 votes). This means they now have one less fun source as computers as well as VR set are gone. Anyone who wants to vote for what item to be reinstated should hurry up, because this possibility will be closed after the project's Day47.

In each test Sim's journal, their worst friendship is listed only if their worst relation is below -10. Best relation is listed only if the friendship is above 20. The green all over mood marks (top right in each journal) refers to a scale from -5 to +5, and was checked at midnight.

John had 5 ok days, but nothing special. He got no skill points, but half his relations improved. He seems to be the most popular test Sim, as all the other 6 likes him at least +35. He also like most of the others +25 to +56, but Rita he only likes +16, and Rasputiz he doesn't like at all (0).

The relations that grew the most, were with Quentin (improved with +22), Arthur (+15) and Rita (Rita likes him +25 more than 5 days ago). In addition he is loved +98 by Sonia, and liked +100 by Agnes. Even Rasputiz who John doesn't like at all, likes John +37 which is more than 5 days ago.

On Day41 John went swimming, and on Day45 he was swimming twice. No body points gained though during these 5 days. He was also playing chess with rita (Day44).

John had rather little fun compared to the others. He was observed reading in the library twice, and he won on the slot machine (Day42). He also had espresso, and had some fun from swimming and playing chess, but there wasn't much fun to "make the day".

Day43, midnight: It's John's IN THE SPOT DAY! At midnight everyone are asleep, except Rasputiz and Arthur who are downstairs. John is asleep in the white bedroom with Rita. John has had interesting relations with Sonia and Agnes for the past week, Sonia likes him 99 and is even in love with him, and Agnes likes him 98 as a friend. John likes them only 60 and 20 back, and Sonia is his only real friend in the house. Right now John is in a very good mood (4) and it seems like he will get a good night's sleep.

6AM: This is the time when they normally get up, so Rita just left the bedroom. But John needs a little more sleep, and so do Arthur and Rasputiz who were late last night. In fact, Rasputiz couldn't find a free bed, so he went to bed just now! John wakes up at 6:50AM, then he walks over to the bathroom and fills the tub, but someone serves breakfast down in the kitchen, so he changes his mind and heads for the others instead. In the dining room he finds Agnes, Sonia, Rita and Quentin, all busy eating and talking. At 8:30 also Arthur arrives with a plate, but now the others are about to break up. Then, while John is about to leave the table, Agnes who was sitting just across the table, stands there waiting for a chance to flirt with him! We think she has been hoping for that chance at least for a week now, as her interest in John took off after Sonia flirted with him. Right now Sonia left to take a shower, and Agnes should be safe, unless Rita or Arthur who also are in the dining room still, should inform Sonia. But John is obviously not that interested, he cleans the table and heads for the kitchen.

John waters the Atrium cactus, then heads upstairs to use the toilet, but in the bathroom he finds Rita and Agnes, and he leaves right away. After using the toilet downstairs, he plays with the newly reinstated Virtual Reality game fore a while, but he is pretty satisfied already when it comes to fun stuff, so he takes a shower instead. John sings out loud while showering, but none of the others are near by to hear him. Then Arthur arrives, Sonia walks by, Rita enters the bath room, and Quentin passes through it on his way from the swimming pool in the Gym. John has no particular need of socializing - or anything else for that matter. He bets a few Simoleons on the slot machine, while Sonia watches, then Sonia walks over to the hot tub, and John follows her. Arthur and Quentin is in the hot tub as well.

Noon: They sit in the tub for a full hour, talking about outdoors, weather and music. Then, at 1 PM, John, Sonia and Quentin eat lunch in the dining room. They must be having a great time, because John's all over mood is +5 (max.), Sonia and Quentin are +4. After the meal John goes upstairs to use the toilet, and on a side note - in the bedroom next door Rasputiz is still asleep. John cleans the bathroom floor, then he waters the plant on the double bedroom balcony. Then he cleans a dish in the dining room.

4 PM: John walks over to the Gym, as Sonia just got her 4th body skill point and left the pool. John dives into the water, and Quentin joins too, but Sonia left the Gym. John swims with Quentin for half an hour, then he goes to the bathroom upstairs, where Sonia is taking a bath. She loves him, so she doesn't mind him being in the room, watering the palm plant there. At this time their relation is 58/98. John leaves her, and walks down to make himself an espresso in the kitchen. Rita is playing chess with Rasputiz in the library, and Agnes is watching tv in the dining room (the kitchen is between those two rooms). Then Sonia comes to the kitchen - are these two test Sims following each other?

It's 6 PM and it gets dark outside. John uses the toilet upstairs, and Rasputiz must have something on his mind, because he rushes after John to talk with him. It seems Rasputiz forget what it was all about, instead John fills the tub with water, but Rasputiz decides to use the toilet, and he shoos John. It's typical simmish behaviour, as John wasn't dirty at all, and Rasputiz has no particular need for using the toilet... The next hour is chaos in the bathroom, as John returns to fill the tub when Rasputiz is done, but Rasputiz refuses to leave the room, and John skips his bath once again. Then John heads for making himself some dinner instead, still wearing his swim wear. After the meal he goes upstairs to use the toilet and then takes a bath in the tub.

John slept longer than the others this morning, so now he is up a little later. At 11:30 PM he is still in the tub. At midnight he leaves the tub. At this time Quentin, Arthur, Sonia and Rita are asleep, while Agnes is downstairs in the hot tub, and Rasputiz is conversing with a guest in the downstairs bathroom. John's mood is only +2 effected by the bathroom's low score, and is getting sleepy. He had a nice day, but nothing special, really.

The past 5 days were rather ordinary to Quentin, although he still made 2 more skill points, and 

His relations were rather stabile, only the contact with John did change significant, from 13/12 to 35/37 which is a lot especially when they achieved it over just 3 days. From their record it seems like they gained a lot from spending hours together in the hot tub talking about sports on Day41 and Day42.

Agnes was after Quentin only once, giving him a back rub on Day45 which turned out negative, but was repaired when they talked about money afterwards.

Quentin used to be rather active, but this time he was swimming only once, on Day41. Instead he spent much time on playing chess, both on Day42 and Day44. He got 1 logic point each of those days.

Not a lot of fun on Quentin's part this time. He played the train set on 2 occasions, and he was observed reading a book in the library on Day42. He was also seen playing basket ball. Like most of the others, he won on the slot machine (Day42).

On Day45 Sonia insulted Quentin who started to cry. Maybe he was reminded of the bad scenes on the terrace weeks ago. Anyways, Sonia can't have meant this to hurt, because the next minute she asked him to dance. It's just Sonia's way of socializing.

These 5 days were nothing special to Arthur. He didn't have much fun, and there was even one episode where Sonia insulted him (Day41), but the entire scene ended with a better relation between the two of them. Before the insult their relation was like A:5/S:13, and when they split it was A:-2/S:23. The insult damaged Arthur's relation to Sonia with -3, while Sonia liked him +10 after this.

Socially Arthur developed a few of his relations. The clearest growth is to John, they are about the become friends (A:54/J:42), Arthur likes John +15 more than 5 days ago. But seeing the record, they have spent time together eating and relaxing in the hot tub almost daily.

Also the contact with Sonia has improved, although it's Sonia who likes Arthur better (+21), Arthur is quite reserved. Arthur's contact with Agnes was quite negative, but is now like zero.

Day42 Arthur spent hours in the pool, 3 times he took a round in the water. Also on Day44 he spent time in the pool, but else than that, it seems like Sonia is the one who now is spending most time in the pool. Arthur played chess with Sonia (Day45, and then later on the same day he played alone. He got 1 logic point.

If we ignore the time Arthur spent swimming or playing chess, he had the most boring 5 days. On 2 occasions he had fun with the VR set, and he had 3 cups of espresso, and played the train set once. That's all...

Arthur insulted by Sonia. This didn't have a very negative effect on their relation, although Arthur must have felt it humiliating.

Sonia's past 5 days were rather ordinary, as you can see from the mood marks (top right) it looks like she had her best day on Day43, the day when we followed John and not the others. Other than that, Sonia is quite active in the pool still, and she has also started to spend time playing chess. Not as much as Rita and Rasputiz, but a lot compared to how rarely Sonia played chess in the start of our project. But perhaps she is calmer after Magdalena left.

Sonia's relations are interesting, as she is the one being in love with John, while Agnes also is trying to build something serious with John, it seems. Sonia's feelings for John is stabile, and to our surprise her relation with Agnes has also improved as Sonia now likes Agnes +24 more than 5 days ago. Agnes likes Sonia only a little more than earlier. They had a jealousy drama on Day44, when Agnes danced with John right in front of Sonia. They didn't start a fight, only some mean looks and Sonia teasing Agnes, which made Agnes laugh and kind of turned the whole situation into something positive, which was even stronger when Sonia went on tickling and again teasing Agnes, all positive. There was also an insult which Agnes did not like, but followed by Sonia teasing and bragging to Agnes which again was only positive. Perhaps this series of interactions explain how Sonia likes Agnes a lot more, but Agnes kind of likes Sonia only a little more.

Sonia also likes Arthur better, +11 more than 5 days ago, but just like Agnes, Arthur hardly likes Sonia more than on Day40.

Sonia has taken Arthur's role as the Gym phantom. She is observed almost daily, swimming in the pool. On Day43 she even got her 4th body point. Two of these days she had 2-3 swim sessions daily, quite impressive. She also gained 1 logical point from playing chess with Quentin (Day42), and on Day44 she played chess with Arthur.

It looks like Sonia had a rather dull period, and she had compared to Agnes and Rasputiz. But Sonia did swim in the pool almost daily, and at least if bored, she had fun from swimming. On Day41 she won on the slot machine twice, and she also read a book.

Day44 there was a jealousy drama in the Atrium. Agnes asked John to dance with her, right in front of Sonia who was watering flowers, and who we know is very much in love with John. Agnes was observed wanting to flirt with John, and we are really following this situation closely. Sonia did not slap Agnes, but this was a negative impulse nevertheless.

Rita had a quiet week, except from the bladder accident on the morning of Day44, she had some ordinary 5 days. Her green mood marks (top right) shows a nice and steady all over mood.

2 of her relations improved nicely, something that we find quite extraordinary when it comes to Rita. Her feelings for John improved from 18 to 43 over these 5 days which is a lot for an extremely shy Sim. John likes her only 16, but that is nice too compared with him liking her zero 5 days ago. So what did they do to achieve this? We only noticed 4 situations where the 2 of them interacted, half of them were talking an eating, the other two they sat in the hot tub talking about either music or outdoors. Rita's contact with Agnes has been quite negative since Day35, but now it is a zero relation, which is actually back to normal.

Other than this we noticed that Rita complimented Rasputiz on Day41 (we do not know the reason, maybe she was impressed with his chess playing?)

Rita played chess on Day 42 and on Day44 when she played chess with John. She was also painting on Day44.

Rita seems to be the one liking the SimRailRoad train set the most, at least she played it on 3 occasions this time. A bigger surprise was it when we observed Rita playing basket ball, something we did not expect from her (Day42). She also played the flip game with Agnes on Day41.

Rita had a bladder accident on Day44, as she had to pee on the dining room floor. It was quite embarrassing to her as some of the others were still dining.

From the diagram above it looks like Agnes had 5 terrific days. But we must remember that Agnes never get any fun from swimming or playing chess like most of the others do, so knowing the green plus marks in the diagram is often single short lasting good moments, her days were still good but nothing extraordinary, and especially not for a Sim that is extremely playful.

Her mood marks (top right) tells us that Day43 was her worst, ending up with only +1 in all over mood (scale is -5 to +5). Unfortunately, Day43 was John's IN THE SPOT DAY, and we have no record on Agnes for that particular day. she might have quarrelled with someone or even had an accident or been stuck for hours.

Agnes' relations are interesting at the moment, her relation to John in particular. That relation was very stabile over the past 5 days, and it included a jealousy drama with Sonia, details can be found in Sonia's journal.

3 of Agnes' relations had significant changes this time. Her contact with Rita is back to normal, which is around zero, they have been quite bad mates for the past 10 days. Her contact with Sonia is improved, although Sonia is the one liking Agnes the more, while Agnes hardly likes Sonia. And finally, Agnes and Rasputiz are currently having the worst relation in the house, actually it's the only negative contact (-20/-20). This occurred during Day43, and must be the reason why Agnes was in such a bad mood after Day43. She disliked Rasputiz from 0 to -25 during that day, which is quite extreme.
 

Agnes is not known to build skills in any way, after 45 days she is the only of the Test Sims who still has not gained any skill marks voluntarily. On Day44 she did paint a picture, but not for long enough to get any skill point.

Together with Rasputiz, Agnes was the one having most fun this time. She is the one watching tv the most, but she also had fun from reading a book, playing the flip game with Rita, VR game, and on Day45 she won on the slot machine.

On Day44 a jealousy scene occurred, between Agnes and Sonia, fighting over John.

For being an extremely serious Sim, Rasputiz had some 5 days with a good deal fun. The very good all over mood (see green marks top right), especially after Day44, proves that being a test Sim can not be that bad. We see his all over mood is rather low after Day43, which was John's IN THE SPOT DAY, meaning we have no record on Rasputiz' actions. But we know his relation to Agnes was badly damaged (from 0 to -25) during that day, something we assume must have affected his mood, too. This is his only significant relation, and it's also the only negative contact in the house right now.

Rasputiz joined group meals and talks in the hot tub like the others, but he seems to have serious problems when it comes to making friends.

On Day41 Rasputiz was observed swimming, and on Day45 he played chess. It's not like him to play this little chess, as he normally plays chess almost daily. Is he changing?

Rasputiz had a lot more fun than usually this period, basically from watching tv, playing the SimRailRoad and on Day44 he even won on the slot machine. He was also observed reading a book in the library. This is pretty rare, because Rasputiz is extremely serious, and yet he had as much fun as Agnes, who is extremely fun loving.
