Include family name, contact sim's name, original hood, number of sims/pets and thier ages. For example: "We are the Smith family from EverydayHood: John (elder), John Jr. (adult), Jane (adult) and the twins Johnny and Janet (children). -Pack up the family and travel to the new hood using the moving instructions below.

Old Dimensional Moving Instructions
This is technical moving information that you need to review before traveling for the first time in the old dimension.

Once you have found a family that you would like to trade hoods with you will move out of your home and all your possesions will need to be sold to give you money for the trip. To make sure that your furniture is saved for the family that will be moving into your home, your neighborhood coucil will need to take the following stops:

Before you move out of your home they need to visit the hood storage facility located at maxis/thesims/userdata/houses. The house furnishings are saved under your address. You need to copy your furnishing to a secure location.

After that is completed you may then move safely out of your home. To restore the furnishings, copy them back to their original location. You will be asked if you want to replace the empty house with the furnished one. Make sure you click yes. Your house will be as it was before you moved out and ready for your guests.

On moving day, your hood coucil will need to go to maxis/thesims/userdata/export. They will need to find the FAM file that corresponds with your family and copy to a secure location. You can then travel via email as an attachment to the new hood. If you use any specialized makeup if will be found in maxis/thesims/gamedata/skins and that should be sent with you.

When the new arrivals get to your email airport you will them need to open the email attachment and move the family to maxis/thesims/userdata/import. Any specialized skins that came with the family need to be moved to maxis/thesims/gamedata/skins before the move in. The family can then be imported into your hood like any other imported family.

You can also travel by the Official Maxis Exchange. You can travel to the exchange temporarily, notify the receiving hood and once they arrive they can be removed from the exchange.

It can be difficult to get through customs if you go from a modern hood to an old fashioned one. Or when traveling to a hood of a different language. You can gain entrance to a hood more easily if you travel with less then 100K of baggage. Also you should remember that you cannot travel with your pets if you are going to a hood that does not allow them. :

Misc Tips for Travel in the New Dimension
Family Relations
There is some concern about losing family relations. Since the the original family lot remains in the hood, familal relations will be kept, but no memories from the trip will be kept. If you wish to import the family from the trip and keep thier memories and famial relations, a 3rd party program-such as SimPE can be used.

Extra Data Taken During Travel
Beware that other "invisible" baggage travels with your sims, including, but is not limited to:
-Any and all family trees-not just of the sim going, but all the sims related to any sims in thier family tree. This is perhaps the BIGGEST data source taken along.
-Memories, data of sims the family knows and the associated photos of the sims including custom clothing, make-up, and hairstyles of these sims
-Inventory items
-Any hood wide (global) hacks-such a phone/mail/etc-that are in use in the hood.

How to Travel Bewteen New Dimensional Hoods with different EPs
Sometimes a family discovers that a potential exchange hood has signed different EP deals than thier base hood. Does that mean travel is impossible? Not always. There are several work-arounds for this issue.

-When packing your lot to travel to the exchange hood, pack only base EP clothing items and hairstyles. Most sims often travel in thier underwear and shave thier heads as a drastic measure. Base EP clothing and hairstyles usually doesn't conflict with other hoods.

-Try traveling via the CAS Clinic, this can be done with the help of the 3rd Party Program, SimPE (http://sims.ambertation.de/). The exchange hood can then assign the sims the appropiate personality and move them into the hood.

-Use a 3rd Party Program, Sims2Pack Clean Installer to import the sims into your hood. The sims can often be found in the immigration pool on a lot or in a CAS clinic, depending on what the exchange hood decided to import.

-Send detailed photos and profile information so the exchange hood can "recreate" the sims.

New Dimensional Moving Instructions with 3rd party program, SimPE
Sometimes a sim will want to travel without taking extra data, such as contact information and memories with them. One way to do this is to travel using a third party program called SimPE.

Once SimPE is installed, open the data from the neighborhood of origin. Neighborhood data can be found easily by using the neighborhood browser under tools / neighborhood. Select the correct neighborhood, open, and then wait a few moments for the data to load.

Once the neighborhood has loaded, go to the tools menu and choose "sim surgery" under the "neighborhood" menu.

Find the sim that wants to move in the list on the left and select them. Then click on "use" underneath "patient sim." When the sim's portrait appears in the box, choose "export". When saving the sim's DNA give the data file a descriptive name, such as the sim's name and remember which folder the DNA data was saved to. Repeat these steps for any other sims that is moving.

When this file is sent to the destination hood, it should be saved to the "Downloads" or "Saved Sims" folders. The destination hood can then import this sim through their own CAS clinic.

This method of traveling only sends a sim's DNA to the hood they're visiting. While the hood data is open in SimPE, other data, such as personality, aspiration, turn ons /offs, interests, and skills, can be recorded and sent to the destination hood in a text file or e-mail. All data on every sim in a neighborhood can be found in the neighborhood records in the "sim description" section of SimPE.

New Dimensional Moving Instructions with 3rd party program, Sims2 Pack Clean Installer
Sometimes there are conflicts bewteen sims traveling from different hoods. It can be that the hoods have signed different EP Deals, or that the hoods have strict import laws and do not allow custom content to be imported. How does a hood get around these travel issues?

Sims2 Pack Clean Installer (http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/index.php?page=1) is a 3rd Party Program that provides a way for hoods to allow only the sims into the hood without any of the conflicting objects.

After installing the program, you can allow only the lot and the family to travel into the hood. Your hood can be more exclusive and remove any custom content as well. The website has more up-to-date details and FAQs about the process.

As with any 3rd party program, your hood should be careful and back up any hood data before testing the software.

Good luck and happy traveling
